Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths. -Proverbs3:5&6
Thank you Lord for bible studies and talking with others about you.
Last night at our weekly bible study here in Cork we were looking at Hebrews 12 and God, who as Our Father chastens us. It was very thought provoking and enjoyable to talk about God who is so big and beyond our understanding but so enjoyable to get to know.
The author of Hebrews in Hebrews12:5&6 quotes Proverbs3:11&12 which says, " My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord, Nor detest His correction; For whom the Lord loves He corrects, Just as a father the son in whom he delights.
I know myself I can get overwhelmed with one aspect of God, even within that one aspect one characteristic, ie the disciplining father. God is so big and I am not able to grasp the extravigance of His mighty brilliance but what I love about Him is that He is and wants to be everything to us in one day. So maybe He chastens you in one area but He is the same Father who waits with open arm for you to turn to Him.
Proverbs 3 continues after the verses above it says, "Happy is the man who finds wisdom, And the man who gains understanding." We had so many questions last night at the study about knowing what is the chastening of God our Father or what is hardship of life and we were pointed to James 1 which is such a great passage. James1:5 says, "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally without reproach, and it will be given to him." Our Lord desires to give us the wisedom we need to better understand all we have questions about, but we must ask in faith as it says in James1 and not despise the chastening of the Lord.
I know very well that I have many views of God that are contorted at times, I have fears and ideas of Him that are not true at all. But the greatest thing is that God knows this and longs to show me and all of us who He really is and how much He cares for us and what that really looks like.
We have such an opportunity with God to get to know Him and who He is. He is always ready to show us more of who He is but I know I so often have my priorities and my wants set before me before even stopping at His throne, and asking to see what He does.
Honest prayers and honest thought life and feelings brought to Him is a beautiful thing.
Reading Psalm142-144 this morning is so refreshing. As we read them it is clear the Psalmist is suffering but does not forget to whom he is crying out to with honesty; the faithfulness, leading, reviving, wonderous Lord who is his refuge.
This morning I am thankful to be reminded of how powerful, mighty and big God is. That He created the heavens and earth and that He deserves all praise, no matter how I feel or whats going on around me or in my thoughts. And also after giving God the glory He deserves that God, our King wants to and because of Jesus has made a way for us to come to His throne boldly and get to know and enjoy our King and Father who cares so deeply for us and will give us what we need, what is truly good for us.
What a mighty King He is.

Thank you Eimear. It is so good to be reminded who God is. We too saw this in Revelation on Tuesday night. he is the One, The Lamb who was slain to give us victory and he always is victorious even when we see sin abounding, in the end Jesus is King of Kings and Lord of Lords
